Using the gateway

Listen on the frequency for a minute or two to make sure that the gateway is not already in use.

Use the gateway as you would any simplex or repeater contact, but please note the following...

The gateway is not a local repeater. It is a simplex (IN/OUT) gateway and only relays signals coming to and from the network. You may not hear a low powered local station already using the gateway, so please keep your squelch as sensitive as possible and use a reasonably high RF output power if available to ensure local stations can hear you.

Please leave a reasonable pause between overs and wait for the pip. This allows for any short delay in the voip system and it gives other stations a chance to break in.

Please do not contact LOCAL stations on the gateway frequency as your conversation will be relayed through the gateway system over all the connected links worldwide jamming the system for other users. Please change to an alternative simplex frequency for local communication.

This system uses Echolink. Feel free to disconnect from the default conference using # and connect to any node of your choice by dialling the node number.

Pressing * will tell you the current connection status.
